LIGHT FOR THE EYE

Foundation “Light For the Eye” provides on-location eye care and eye test services, supplying special optical low vision aids and glasses primarily to the elderly, visually impaired, and disabled individuals who face mobility challenges in visiting an eye-care practice. Our expertise in low vision caters to individuals with less than 30% vision that cannot be corrected through medical procedures. We utilize specialized measuring techniques and low vision aids to help clients see what was previously deemed impossible at a regular optician.

By offering eye care services in retirement homes, care institutions, and shelters, we eliminate the need for clients to visit an eye care practice, as we bring the services to them. With a team of specialists boasting over 25 years of experience in eye care, we ensure precision in eye tests and customization for all types of glasses and special optical aids.

Our advanced eye test devices, including the Retinomax Hand Auto Refractor,’ allow us to perform highly accurate tests within seconds. We can make further adjustments with a trial frame and take fundus/retina photos to assess eye health. We always seek the best solution through consultation and discussion with the client, their caregivers, and family.

Eye tests and examinations are free of charge, and most health insurers and healthcare institutions reimburse the cost of glasses and special optical low vision aids, either partially or fully. Our foundation assists with reimbursement and claims.

Supported by ophthalmology and optometry, our new initiative aims to reduce the increasing pressure on ophthalmology in the region and provide quicker access to suitable optical aids for maximum vision in an accessible setting.

In collaboration with the “Light For The World Foundation,” we support the visually impaired and blind in developing countries and collect old glasses for reuse.

You are also welcome to visit one of our eye care practices, where we offer regular eye care services by appointment.

We are happy to be at your service!

Johannes Schoonhoven

Johannes Schoonhoven (Amsterdam, 24 December 1975) is a visual/abstract artist.

His reliefs are made of paper-mâché mixed with gypsum and pigment. His work is based on lines, squares, light, shadow and repetition. The pre-pigmented paper-mâché is processed by hand and with painters knives, creating lines.

After a drying process of approximately two/three weeks, the paper-mâché is painted with acrylic paint and pigment, he develops his own colors using various intense pigments.

Making these works is a contemplative experience for Johannes Schoonhoven in collaboration with nature.

His works undergo various drying processes in an atmosphere of serenity.

The final result of his works is unpredictable. The drying process has its own physical laws and forces the papier-mâché into unexpected shapes.

From his early twenties he has been visiting the Franciscan fraternities and contemplative monasteries, where he gets a lot of inspiration.

Johannes Schoonhoven lives and makes his art works in a town called Amstelveen, next to Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He is the grandson of artist Jan Schoonhoven (1914-1994).
